I’m honored by your support at the polls, and I’m grateful for your trust. As Supervisor representing the Jack Jouett district, I will work hard to do what’s best for the county and its citizens.

Thank you so much for your support!

Here’s what I stand for:

  • I’m committed to developing good jobs.
    • I support economic development.
    • I have 12 years experience in workforce development on the board of CATEC (the Charlottesville Albemarle Technical Education Center).
  • I’m committed to excellent education.
    • I have 16 years of experience on the School Board.
    • The Albemarle Education Association PAC endorses me.
  • I’m committed to public safety.
    • The Police Benevolent Association endorses me as their candidate for this seat.
  • I’m endorsed by the Daily Progress and the Albemarle Democratic Party.
  • I am an independent candidate.

Here’s some more about me:

It has been a privilege and joy for me to represent the families and citizens of the Jack Jouett District for the last 16 years on the School Board. Over that time, our school division has made remarkable progress toward offering an outstanding education for each and every one of our students. While the work to reach that goal continues, Albemarle County students now rank among the very best in the state by many measures, of which standardized test performance is only one. Just recently several of our school division programs won national honors for excellence, a great example of what our community can accomplish when we work together for the benefit of our children and families.

It is this spirit of unity among our residents that most often results in progress, whether our focus is on schools, our environment or our economy. We all value a high quality of life for our families and it is why so many of us chose to live in Albemarle County.

It also is why I have decided to seek your support to represent you on the Board of Supervisors next year. I have seen what we can do when we share a desire to solve problems, no matter how difficult. I think we can do better in our county at a time when the challenges we all face are great.

I welcome the participation of us all. I think the very best elections are those in which the
candidates clearly and honestly present their views without personal attack, false promises or
the politics of destruction. Healthy, open debate that concentrates on issues and gives you a
good sense of the belief system and abilities of the people seeking to represent you will lead to the best decisions for our entire community in November.

Over the next few months, I will be talking about how we all can make our county a better,
more welcoming place to live, where people and families can find strength in the common
values and hopes we all share. I hope to have the chance to meet and talk with you about your
needs, views and aspirations for your family and the greater community.

Many of you know me from my service on the School Board or from my other community
service activities. I hope you will now support me with a vote on November 5th. For others,
perhaps it is too early to ask for your vote before you have had a chance to learn about me and
what I stand for. I look forward to the opportunity to earn all your votes during this campaign by demonstrating to you that I am the best-qualified candidate to represent you on the Board of Supervisors.

I hope you will call or e-mail me and that you also might be able to attend a public forum for
the candidates who seek to represent you.
